Is micro$oft reverting to type?

AFAIK all browsers on the apple platform MUST use the Apple webkit browser engine:

"Currently, third-party web browsers, including ones like Chrome from Alphabet Inc.'s Google, are required to use WebKit, Apple's Safari browsing engine," wrote Gurman. "Under the plan to meet the new law, Apple is considering removing that mandate."

Yes that's correct and what I mean by them not just forcing a default browser but not allowing different browsers. Google have been working on a non-webkit browser for IOS and claim it's strictly experimental but it suggests they think there's going to be a change soon. Although IE6 did a lot of damage in its time at least Microsoft allowed you to freely choose your own browser to install.

As I understand it, Apple's requirement for developers to use Webkit is part of their security policy.

I don't see how any sensible person can criticise a company for trying to protect their customers.

I really doubt it. They've been blocked from doing far less than this before.
If you read it all, your'll see that they aren't (y)
