Is open source software the way forward?

I've just hit an upgrade block with my processing software as it now requires Win11 and I hoped to stay with Win10 until it's no longer supported. Considering my options has led me to look at Rapid Raw which will run on win10 (and Mac or linux) .

I'll be interested to hear from anyone using Rapid Raw on any OS as it may be the answer you or I need.

I've just tried Rapid Raw. It's not bad, the interface is miles better than Darktable.
Only tried one image so far. So too early to judge.

I was solely a Linux user until a few years ago when I got back into photography and realised the options were not great for raw editing.

I'll have to try Rapid Raw.

In the end I dual boot Win 11 and use Photo lab which I do really really like. There are a couple of other software packackes that are Windows only too. But I much prefer using my EndeavourOS system, everything just works better with it.
