is the Canon 50mm F1.8 FD the one and only nifty fifty?

The FD part is putting me off as I am not sure if it’s the same lens that I have been looking for. I have been looking at the 50mm F1.8 lens for some time and have saw ones advertised as mark 1 or mark 2 but never FD. Can you tell me what this means?

FD is the old mount, you want a EF mount.

and no, it's not the same "nifty" most people refer to.

to expand, there are 2 50mm f1.8 EF fit lenses. the mk1 and mk11. the mk1 has a metal body i think and far more substantial. it was replaced by the mk11 which is mostly plastic and cheap feeling. the mk1 will go for more on ebay than the mk11.
