is the canon 70d as good as they say?

as title i am thinking of buying one and have seen a few opting for a 70d over the 7d now i did hear some have focus problems was it just a bad batch or do they all suffer ? i have seen them from £600 new and before any one asks i just fancy a new camera lol

I assume you mean the 7D MKII or did you mean the 7D? Haven't had an issue with mine since I bought a used one middle of last year before the 7D MKII was released. At around £500 used its a great camera, ok the focus point expansion is not available on the 70D, but happy with the autofocus, used it for some late Motorsport events and it hit the spot, only let down by the user lugging around a 500mm handheld.

yea pete i was on about the 7d the 7dmkii is way out my price range lol, love the photo
 
The 70D has significantly improved ISO performance over the 7D, new sensor, it's inherited 95% of the autofocus system from the 7D, the tilt screen is useful and most of the reviews I read when comparing the 2 before committing to the 70D would have picked the 70D over the 7D. It depends on your budget and whether you really need the focus point expansion that is part of the functionality of the 7D.
 
I'm so far happy with my new 70d, focus looks good to me as does iso improvement over 50d. If you read the net you an find many people stating focus issues of most models including the 7d, 70d and others. While I'm sure there can be manufacturing tolerating issues or even die batch issues I would think there are more instances of good old fashioned operator error.

focus point expansion would have been a nice addition to the 70d, bit of shame canon did not include it.

I have a 70D and have had no focus problems with it. A 7D Mk1 is still my main camera but I have no issues when I use the 70D. Also like the touch screen.
 
cheers guys i just bought one on ebay just have to wait on it getting del
 
came today battery is on charge see if i can get out to play with the new 70d some time this week
