Is the D7000 good enough?

as some mentionned D700 is good for the full framce and AF, D7000 is more like the replacement of the D90.i would wait for the D700 replacement if you wanna go full framce shorlty ..and get a D700! For a D80 replacement i would get something like a D300
 
Thank you to everyone. Although I am as confused as before about what camera I should get, but clearer about what each options would bring me and would also cost me.

So, as I am still getting some pretty decent shots with my prehistoric D80, shall I just buy the lenses first and figure out the camera later?

You sound happy with your D80 to be honest. Lenses will outlast bodies ten fold, if you've got an itch for new purchases without having a specific need for something a newer body offers then yep, lenses, all day long :)
 
D7000 is a fantastic bit of kit. Not too heavy and easy to use. Great ISO performance in low light. If you have some DX lenses it might be best to stick DX format. I sold my D7000 and lenses to go full frame to Canon, but I just couldn't get used to it after being with Nikon. As I have shifted back I have bought a D700 but if you have lenses go for the D7000, you won't be disappointed!

Besides my kit lens, which I never use, my other lenses are FX. So that is not an issue.
