Twice today I found myself pondering on this very fact
As I approached a mini roundabout the GTI emerged quickly from my left and turned right
causing me to brake sharply. As the car pulled level to me I just looked at the driver who then judging by her attitude
and gestures firmly believed that it was my fault.
I profusely apologised for not reading the new EU directive that says we no longer
should give way on roundabouts to vehicles coming from our right but just pull out and they will stop.
The second I was approaching a parked car on my offside ( right) and an approaching Golf
was (or appeared to be) stopping behind it.
as I got within a few feet I guess he had a brain fart and decided that it was his right of way after all
Forcing me off the road, I managed to "stick" my tail out enough to inconvenience him.
And judging by his attitude and language, I was clearly in the wrong.
For the second time today I found myself apologising To a Golf driver.
I had ( wrongly it seems) assumed that when the highway code notes that you should give way to an on coming vehicle
when there is an obstruction in the road, it meant on "your side".
Obviously it doesn't mean that. it must therefore mean when its on your off side.
So just a little note to all you good folks out there that hadn't realised these recent changes in the highway code
Via some EU directive or other be careful out there.
