im looking to go full frame , and considering the d800 , as a possibilly , advice please, im thinking for the nikon 24-70 2.8 and 70 200 2.8. any advice please

i already have nikon cameras so dont want to change to another brand

D700 is a good option too as it's very simlar handling wise, i guess it depends if you want the extra Megapixels and a newer model.
 
well its one of their best cameras and two of their best lenses. What is there to doubt?
 
im just asking because it will mean changing so much other wtuff, eg memory cards. 4 gig . wont cut it , but i want this camera and lens . , i trust poeples opinions on hers, im decided im going to try and get it. thanks all
 
If its full frame you are only after then the D700 is something you should really consider. If money is not an issue then the D800 is the way to go
 
As a user / owner of both cameras the D800 in my opinion is light years ahead of the D700 for everything bar FPS. It would be a hugeeeee jump from the D300 or any DX camera.It just keeps amazing me.

Took mine on its first paid shoot after much testing etc and it passed with flying colours.

Well I went from d300 to d800 and own 24-70 & 70-200.
No regrets, and gave it a lot of thought.
Memory cards are pretty cheap, so not much else to worry about, and not much difference if you went with any other cam.

After reading a billion threads on pros/cons of 36mp I can say 100% no cons at all.

The files aren't that big, my 5yr old Mac Pro with only 6gb ram copes fine. You need a good technique to use any pro camera, you'll rarely print 1-2-1, but still plenty advantages of mp. Noise is non existent in 99% of real life shooting, 100% if you expose correctly.

The only negative of the whole d800 that holds any weight is the 4fps, but you'd know if this is a negative for you or not depending on your discipline.
 
If you have the money, a d800, but the d700 for me is brilliant compared to old d300. ISo is much better.
 
Does the D600 compare with the D700?

There's one blog/review I saw that compared the D800 in DX mode to the D7000...it's Nikon's best DX camera too, well certainly pre the D7100. Apart from FPS not sure the D300s would offer much compared to the D800 in crop/DX mode.
