Hi guys, after selling my Nikon 300mm F2.8 a while ago, I've been without a 300mm prime. I've been looking at getting a second-hand 300 F4 AFS IFED version and was watching one on ebay. However due to work commitments and being busy, I forgot to check it again and it sold for £626.00

We'll I started looking again and found another at a BIN price of £770.00. However when I looked at the picture, and more importantly the description (the bit about it only being used once for a safari), it was identical to the ad for the first one. According to the history of the sale, it wasn't sold to the person (or company) who is now selling it, so is this a bit fishy or what.

If I had any doubts whatsoever when spendign £800 I wouldn't buy it. However, it does look like someone making a fast buck. Maybe they have two accounts or their partner bought it so they could then sell it without making it obvious?

If I were selling it on I would buy it with a different account to the one I was selling it through, last thing you want is for a potential buyer to see what you paid. ;)
 
The seller's account name seems to indicate a dealer and one with low feedback at that. A search of completed listings shows that these lenses generally sell at below £700, so £770 seems a bit much.

I can't think of any good reason for the wording to be copied from one auction to another (apart from bad manners) especially as there's a particular make of filter involved.

Hmm ... I think I'd be waiting for another one to come along. They do appear in the classifieds from time to time and I even bought one off of GumTree!

I can't open either link - says not found ? Perhaps it's been pulled.

Have you thought about putting a wanted add on here / keeping an eye on the classifieds here ?
 
as others have said it looks like the seller is wanting to make a quick 100 quid on the lens
no harm in that if it's all genuine

if your happy to pay the price contact the seller and arrange cash on collection it's what i do with expensive items bought off ebay or forum ads it lessens the chance of problems with the sale ( on both sides ) and if all is not what it seems you,ve lost a bit of petrol money

dudley's not too far from cheshire it's definitely the the way i would go if i wanted the lens
