Just wondering if you guys consider this a good deal:

Link

If the link doesnt work, the ID number is 160421500111.

He has said he is willing to accept £2500 for the whole kit.

What do you guys think?

there isnt 2,500 of gear it it were all new

I don't think you could get all that new for less than £2500, where are you shopping?

It's high for 2nd hand though, you'd only be saving around a hundred

Its not the best deal in the world

Camera Price buster suggests:

5D Mk II with 24-105 L kit = £ 2231
430EXII flash - £ 199
and a 32Gb Sandisk Extreme card - £ 139
and a small bag

Essentially its an approximate £70 saving from brand new. Not really worth it considering its second hand. What would you guys say is a good price for the whole kit?

Cool. Ill aim for that, although I think he wont be taking anything under £2500 for the quick email exchange Ive had with him.

£2000-2100 max. He thinks it's worth £2500 because he paid £3k for it, but ebay is a strange place and there have been threads on here about people actually paying more than new prices (if you know where to buy).

Speaking of which, get a quote off Kerso - he can usually beat the CameraPriceBuster prices. Check him out in the For Sale section - top guy.

Cheapest I can see on camera pricebuster 5d2 kit is £2324.99:shrug:

I saw the comment about there isn't £2500 worth of kit there brand new so checked it out.
Buying new from places on the net that lot would cost you about £2732 so a couple of hundred saved which OK great if this was brand new kit out of the shop. As the guy listed the places he bought from I had a look at their sites and the cost to day is £2842.70 (guessed on the lowepro bag but they are all less than £25) so he is loosing over £300 selling it on.

It isn't new, it is second hand and as a result has second hand resale values so he is a little over optimistic on his price for the kit, I would think at least £500 (the value of the VAT) should be off to start with. You have to feel for the guy he went out bought a camera thinking he could become a pro photographer just because he has a 5Dmk2. It even looks like he shopped around to save money going in different shops on TCR.

Mind you prices on there change like the stock Exchange.

I bought a 5dmii body only the other day from Jessops online.....

If you go via quidco, you get a further 4% back on the pre VAT price..... also the £50 off ecoupon (shown on camera price buster worked) so over £100 saving ... and they were only £30 more expensive than thee cheapest on the list...

Supposed to be delivered tis monday..... but I'm away with work for a week.... just my luck !!

Phil

Yes, they do. It was £2231 at Currys yesterday for 5D2 and 24-105L.

Only a few weeks ago I paid £2350 (Calumet) for that kit and was quite happy at the time. A week later it was going for £2250 at another dealer (was it Martins?) and below £2200 at the Focus show I think.

Kerso was down to £2150 before he sold out (US import, but with UK warranty) but that then went up for new stock. Not sure what he's quoting now with the current exchange rate.

I paid £2299 for the kit from wilkinson cameras a few weeks back.

Thanks for the info guys. Very useful.

I have been offered an 11 month old 5D mkII with a 24-105 lens (both come with boxes) for £1900. The camera has less than 1000 actuations.

Would you guys say that it is a decent price?

Yes! If I remember correctly, the shutter on the 5DMkII should last for 100,000 actuations and the 24-105L is a great lens.

I would recommend going for the 580EXII flashgun though, it's weather sealed whereas the 430 isn't and it has a much higher build quality.

Im not 100% on a flashgun yet since Ive never been in a situation where I really needed one. I may get one down the track.

So you would consider £1900 a good deal then?

Cheers.

You will need a flashgun with the 5D, it has no built in flash, unless of course you only take pictures in the daylight or have a very fast lens.
