Is this a real Rode VideoMic?

No, not real - you can even see in the pics that it's not branded Rode - they are just mareketing it "cleverly".

Whether it is as good or not: no one can tell you unless they have actually tried the two in identical conditions. A Rode is unlikely to be 7x as good though (price multiple).

Straight away I spot the on/off on side, it's on the back of the RØDE, is on mine at least.

You have to ask yourself is it better than the onboard mic, if so may be worth a punt else get the Genuine Rode
