Is this a shutter speed problem

If you want to set a specific shutter speed, then shutter priority (or manual) will obviously do it.

But if you want the fastest shutter speed possible, then choose aperture priority and the lowest available f/number, the highest ISO that you dare, and then the camera is forced to automatically set the fastest shutter speed possible to deliver correct exposure.

It sounds a bit back to front, but if you need 'fastest possible' as opposed to a specific speed, that's the way to do it.

Thats what I was trying to say- I was offering correct advice at last! WOO!

Oh lord now I am confused :-) I have enough problems trying to remember things :-D

I think you need to gen up on how shutter speed, aperture and ISO work together to get the right exposure. Its all a balancing act and different levels of each will produce a corrctly exposed image but with different looks ie D.O.F will change and so on.

The trick is putting it into practice :)

I was messing about between aperture and shutter mode and also put my tamron 70-300 on and not sure if it was a mixture of everything I noticed a huge difference.

yes but you can pass trought this problem, with bigger aperture in F, higher iso, higher speed, or you can try to use some tecnics, use monopod, ore try the panning tecnnic
