Is this flash any good?

Morning all,

I've just inherited a pile of old film camera kit from my uncle (he's not died, just gone into a home, see post on film & conventional forum) and amongst it was a PRAKTIKA 1600A flashgun. Now, surprise surprise this fits and works on my D40x and my D70.
My question is, is it any good or should I carry on with my buying an SB600 plan?

Cheers

Andy

Try to find out the trigger voltage of that flash - if it's too high it could fry the guts of your cameras...

IMO, carry on saving for the SB-600 but keep the Praktika one for use as a slave unit.

I've goo*led it but without spending at least £3 and waiting a week for the delivery of a manual, I can't find anything out.

I think there's a gizmo you can fit between the camera and flash that allows the camera to fire the flash without any danger of frying the body electronics - can anyone remember what it's called?

Cheers Nod

Apparently it will work as a slave with a radio signal. I think thats the best option and I'll get the SB600 for me b'day next week.
