i have sold this lens which the buyer now says is faulty as tehy have used the same lens on a fs100

I only ask as i have sold this lens and this is the proof that the lens is faulty ( i stated it had scratches on the casing )
 
I just thought it was a wind up, over 2 minutes looking around the outside of a lens and on comes a weird song
 
nope they reckon the image stabilization is not working as they have used the lens before on a fs100 surely a sony 5n will not work as well when videoing than the fs100 ?
 
Well the bit of video at the end looks stabilized to me, I can't imagine it being that steady without as he even zooms in and there's no shake.
 
It's been years since I owned a NEX but some of them (the video camera ones) have the ability to use something called Active Steady Shot, as well as the OSS. My understanding was Active Steady Shot was digital stabilization and OSS was optical. I know the older (1st and 2nd gen) NEX's couldn't use/activate this setting. Maybe he was used to digital stabilization on the FS and forgot to activate it again? Active Steady Shot was always far more impressive but lost some detail. As I say it's been years since I read this, there's a massive 10+ page debate on DPReview about it.
 
He sent the video to show it doesn't work properly and wants £50 back
 
Surely a definitive test is shooting a static subject handheld at a shutter speed lower than 1/1.5 x the focal length of the lens?

Anyway, if the buyer shoots video and doesn't think the steadyshot works, then I'd suggest that the lens isn't usable to them. Therefore the £50 would make naff all difference!
 
Sounds like you got a bad buyer that's trying it on, if me i'd be telling them I will not be bribed, if they are not happy with that, i'd tell them to dispute it with ebay and I will deal with ebay about it, I may end up refunding him but he will have to post it back to me ''First, fully tracked'' at his expense and that will usually show that he was trying to bribe I/you.
 
The first I heard was when they took it to the resolution centre !!!

thanks for the input I asked them to return the lens if they werent happy and they are now happy to keep it at the prie they paid

I'd make a little note and not deal with that buyer again.

Thanks :) just glad its sorted as it was christmas pressie money and the whole amount was frozen (£350)
