Hi

I have bought (from this forum) a Kenlock (cheapy but very good IQ) 80-200 f4.5 M42 mount lens which will be attached to my Lumix GF1. The GF1 has a crop factor of 2x so the lens will come out at 160-400mm. Is this ok for wildlife/birds etc? Would i need a lens mounted tripod mount and if so do they do universal ones? Any suggestions on use appreciated.

Possbly a tad on the short side most bird photographers use a 400 on a 1.6 crop body giving them 640 effective. Whilst you will be able to get shots you will need to be close with smaller birds, use a hide, camo and keep still and quiet. Baiting with food is a good idea ;)

You can get 2.0/2.5/3.0 X M42 converters VERY cheap. I have a Sigma Telemac Vario 2X auto on a Greens Federal 200mm 1:3.5 and get reasonably good pics with it. BUT it takes a lot of getting used to! You cannot just point and shoot as it is ENTIRELY manual and a LOT of thought has to go into your settings!
