gonna be looking to get a flash in the next couple weeks

im after one that will go on camera and can be used as of camera flash

i know this will work on camera as it states that but is it also a off camera flash, if it says could you let me know how it says its of camera so i know for future reference

the camera manual should contain a list of suitable [own-make] flash units

to go ''OCF'' you will need a TTL cord or a wireless trigger

I have been waiting for a pm back from graham for a few days,is he on holiday or just being lazy.:p:D
 
looks like it is ocf as it seeme=s to have a stand at the base im just hoping that it can be fired with the camera flash

also is it possible to get something that fits on to camera that can fire it with out the camera flash so i can just have the flash from the side

Most flashes can be used off camera, its just a question of how you trigger it. Some cameras can trigger a compatible flash using the on-board flash, sometimes you might use a cable, or you can get wireless flash triggers. I got my triggers from eBay - cheap ones from Hong Kong, but they do the job as long as you don't want to trigger them from miles away. Mine are the 'Blazzeo' brand, but there are others available.

so i f i get that flash i can then get some triggers to fire it off?

Right - first off, Sony cameras have a different flash hotshoe to normal cameras so you will need a Sony dedicated flash unit (or a sony to conventional hotshoe adaptor). The one you linked from on Amazon is such an item. To trigger the flash via off-camera wireless link you will again need a sony-specific flash trigger/reciever kit such as this one

If you are thinking of using more than one flash head, it may be worthwhile buying a set with 1 transmitter (that fits on the cameras hotshoe) and a couple of recievers (that fit under the flash unit's connector)
