Yes
I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a decent deal on the nikon 55-200 vr lens. i don't trust amazon market place and want to buy from a well known retailer - dixons have the same lens at two different prices both have the same write up and dont mention vr, the tesco one only mentions vr when you go into the features so do i trust that it is the vr one???

HOW MUCH

Jesus, does it come with a free holiday to Florida?
With all expenses paid, and free entry to the theme parks?
And all food included?
For three weeks?

But anyway, no it's not the VR version :D

But you might have gathered that it's a tad on the 'expensive' side.......

It seems to be the cheapest out of the reputable companies, the amazon marketplace traders have some dodgy feedbacks and that purely gadget shop has major bad reviews :((

I dunno *** to do!!!

Be patient. Keep an eye open on the classifieds here and look at places like MPB photographic. I know these are 2nd hand but I have never bought anything from here or MPB that hasn't been in mint condition and much cheaper than new.

Also, have you had a look at this thread?

I would perhaps reconsider the Amazon Marketplace. I'll state that I am biased because I make a living from it (books, not cameras) but there are several levels of protection. You are covered by the distance selling regulations (i.e. you can refuse the item without giving the reason - you don't even have to return it - just make it available for collection). If you pay by credit card you have two lots of protection there and there is also the Amazon A to Z guarantee which almost invariably finds in favour of the customer.

There are one or two vendors on there that I might avoid (e.g. any company that starts arguing with the customer via feedback) but many are genuine and I have had lots of positive buying experiences.

I think the one selling the lens for £168 inclusive of courier delivery looks pretty good!

In that Tesco link, it clearly states "Vibration Reduction (VR) stabilization system enables more flexible hand-held shooting and lets you to shoot at up to 3 stops slower." in the features section and in the same section ticks the Image Stabiliser box. If it should prove NOT to be the VR version, you would be entitled to a full refund since it wouldn't be as described in that ad.

As for the price, well, the Tesco price is £220, WarehouseExpress have it for £234, Park for £260, Mifsuds £250 (new) and £199 (2nd hand) (all prices taken from ads in AP, 24/10/09). Looking at the Devon Camera Centre's site shows the price as £197. Don't forget that P&P probably needs adding to all those prices while the Tesco price seems to be delivered to a store of your choice or can be included in your grocery order.

Thanks for your replies I think i may go with amazon but maybe get a credit card 1st for the added protection. Don't know how long i can wait *** cos once i've decided to get something i want it straight away typical woman that i am haha!!!!

try Jessops!

if i'm correct,i think you can buy even though you have less than the required 100 posts, but are not allowed to advertise anything for sale(but i may be wrong, and i'm sure someone will correct me if i am).

I think you can buy advertised stuff but can't place any for sale or wanted ads until you reach the milestones.

ah miss read i didn't think you could get involved at all till the criteria had been met - cheers
