Issue with Cannon EOS 1000D

I have a EOS 1000D its about 5 months old and ever now and again it will go into sleep mode( Thats what i call it dont know if its the right name) and then wont switch back on.

The only way i can get the camera to turn back on is if i take the battery out and put it back in

Does or has anyone else had this issue

Never had it on my 1000D when I owned it.
Have you tried updating the firmware to the latest version if you already haven't done so?
 
How old is the battery in the camera, does it hold a good charge?
 
The camera was brought in December all new with the battery yeah charge holds good. Ive got the receipt so might take it back but don't really want to do this
 
My 1000D can be a bit temperamental with the door for the battery, it can come slightly loose easily and the camera won't go out of sleep mode until I push it back so it's on properly. Could maybe be the same problem?

I think your camera may end up going back to Canon. I tried doing a google search and not much came up on the matter. Of the couple examples I did find, bothe suggested/did the Canon route.
You may as well while the camera is still under warranty. Just means you will be without it for a while.
 
Iv not had any trouble with mine. But my friend did have the dodgy battery door (as mentioned earlier) mine is gripped and now he has a grip for his and now its fine.

Yeah if there is no fix for then then i will just have to send it back like you say better it happened while it was in warranty. Doesnt happen all the time but tends to happening when i have some nice snaps lined up lol
 
For anyone having this issue took it back to the shop they sent it to Cannon. Got it back yesterday with a new front board in it. Hopefully it does the trick
