i have supplied an image to show what is happening with my pictures, this image is not adjusted in anyway, but it shows a lot of what i can only describe as noise/scratchs. question is where is it , i have cleaned the mirror and the plastic screen which is above it, so the only item left is the sensor
( true/false ) ?

model D100, with not much history

any comments would be welcome with open arms :nuts:

OMG, your bang on with that ISO, cant you just tell its been a long week, thanks for the quick response, back to bed for me!!!!
 
My most common cookup is forgetting I was playing with the iso.....
 
As Opanda is free software and IMHO an almighty good tool (will give you shutter activation count) Take the easy route... get it now!
 
Is there a version for vista? The website version states XP

When I do it I always give it a good old yank - and once out I use Cif (as they call it now - grrrr) and rinse under a tap, then, to avoid moisture, I microwave it on full for 4 mins. It usually re-attaches ok with Blu-tac too

Ok then - so you saw through my 'How to get Gary to wreck his camera' ploy :D

I've used blowers, blowers with brushes attached and even a duster once to clean the mirror. It is a sensitive bit of kit though, so generally unless it's truly mucky & that muck may fall onto the sensor it's best left alone

I change lenses almost as fast as I change gear in the car - so I rarely have a dust bunny problem now anyway - I say now as I've done some bloody stupid tricks in the past :bonk:

Given how the mirror slaps around the camera body when the shutter is released, is it really that sensitive to being handled?

Try touching it with anything and then cry when you see the nasty smears you've left all over your lovely clean mirror. I used an Arctic Butterfly sensor tool on mine once and it looked like I'd dragged sand paper across it.

In all seriousness it's coated and is one of the few bits that just doesn't take to being cleaned. It's much easier to clean a sensor well than your mirror. Not to say it can't be done with swabs and sensor fluid but even then it tends to streak.. Visible dust do mirror swabs with can be used with their V-dust fluid and that seemed to work quite well :)
