Niot easy to determine what to buy......... the Canon 50D or the Nikon D90. I don't need movie mode but I understand that the Nikon new Flash unit is better than the Canon best flash unit.

I expect to be using flash and would like to ensure the best performance. Can anyone tell me if the Canon flash can produce as good a result as the Nikon and clarify this please?

Thanks

Malcolm

Sorry I should have said . correct - SB900 V 580MK11 if that's the equavalent for Canon.
I have read that Nikon far outperform the Canon, but not sure if that was an old article?

i would agree that the sb900 is a superurb flash gun, the results i got where out of this world,. though i ihave ner tried a canon flash gun.

i now have a sb800 and sb900 for my nikons
Cheers Steve

Just one thing I picked out of that forum post, it was alluded that the canon 580 EX ii could only trigger a canon slave, thats just not true, it can trigger the Nissin Di622 in both optical slave mode and standard wireless ettl/ettl2 mode, I have done this myself with the 580 EX set as master.

Other than that I would say two things, 1 if you already have canon gear is it worth changing brands and all you have just for a flashgun?

and.. hang fire and see what the 60D has to offer, both the 50D and D90 are getting long in the tooth now.

If this materialises can will be well on top. I am hoping for Canon wifi flash announcement in a near future.

BTW. I use 3x Canon Speedlites in ETTL2 mode both indoors and outdoors. The only hassle is getting them in a line of sight. Otherwise they work as well as my brain can cope with lighting schemes.
