My dear wife has bought me a new lens for my birthday, an 85mm f1.8 to be precise. It was delivered two days ago but she has hidden it and wont let me touch until my birthday next week.

How tight is that!
 
It'll be all the better for being made to wait for it

Never been an issue for us. Our rule of thumb - myself, wife and kids (grown up) - is surprises only, and nothing costing more than £10 for birthdays and Christmas.
 
we (my wife and I) usually agree to not do each other for birthdays/christmas, but she usually buys something little or a card to try to make me feel guilty/special all at the same time, so I then outdo her and buy her something better, like flowers etc to her work. Thinking about it though, maybe that is her plan, to get something nice without agreeing to being bought something lol

My Christmas present arrived this morning - and the wife is at work! ;)

I'll just have to tell her the packaging was damaged when it arrived. :lol:

Get yourself down the local stockist ... ask to look at it, fiddle with it a bit, enjoy it, make some oooh aah noises ... then ask about the price, frown a bit ... pretend to ponder ..and say 'I'll have to think about it, I'll come back tomorrow for another look if I may?'

I had to wait 3 months to get my hands on my Canon 550D for my birthday, I had to show great restraint and patience...................

Wifes birthday is tomorrow, mine is next week.
