iTunes and sync multiple devices

Hi

I'm sure I read something on this, but can't for the life find it.

My daughter has an Ipod touch and we sync to iTunes no problems, wife has just got a Nano and is thinking of an I-phone.

Can you set all the devices to connect to the same account, BUT not to download all the same music - eg wife wants album a, b and c where as daughter wants b, c and d and can you do the same for apps bought ??

The music is stored on the PC and imported into the library on iTunes

Thanks and I hope this makes sense

Hi.

Yes no problem, just click on whichever device is plugged in and somewhere in there is the settings for what it synchs to. Simply have each device synch to a playlist that everyone has set up on the main page.

Simples.

great thanks

is there a similar way re the apps

I suppose ideally, I'd like the ipod to connect and everything sync for that ipod as chosen (as it currently does for the initial ipod) automatically - apps, music etc.

Spoke to one guy at apple store who suggested setting up another library ? but another one said set up diff log in's in windows and each have a sep itunes account which doesn't really seem best practice for me and a lot of messing ??

Any help appreciated

We have a nightmare syncing 3 apple device to one computer... Things sync when they shouldn't and I end up with chic lit in my iBooks! Spoke with an apple rep who said the best way on a windows pc is to have separate logins I.e. Different users on windows this solves the problems inherent with the interface.... Apple your touch devices are amazing and super user friendly so why is iTunes multi user so bloody awkward!

Oh, was trying to get away from having to do that, if you have seperate log ins, I presume you can still have the 1 iTunes account - so if you buy an app, is it available to everyone ??

What about choosing the option to manually sync items, do you have to manually choose each time, or is it only if something changes ?

Cheers

As above, just tell each ipod to sync only certain playlist not everything, job done

Cheers

Worked a treat, eventually got round to sorting my wife's new ipod out, created seperate playlists and both sync'd no problems - despite daughter having a hissy fit at me that I'll c**k it all up, not my fault I hit the tick box next to one of the songs whilst holding the CTRL key and promptly ticked every song in the library to move across to her playlist :lol::lol:

All sorted now, thanks again

I did a similar thing the other day, had a whole bunch of stuff selected in Itunes, spotted a track that wasn't labeled right, changed the artist name to the right one, patted myself on the back and shortly afterwards realised I'd changed every single track I had selected (lots :bang::bonk:) to the one artist :shake: Me Pillock!
