iTunes keeps crashing when sync iPhone?

Hi Guys

Having a really irritating issue with iTunes at the mo.

I havent sync'd my iPhone for ages so on Saturday I opened up iTunes which told me newer version available which I downloaded etc. Then plugged in the iPhone (3g) and it told me new software available but also said that there were apps to back up first so I sync'd but once it go to item 6 of 6 updating photos it crashed and the screen went black. I then restarted the laptop and tried to re sync at least another 10 times over the weekend but it keeps getting to that same point and crashing except now it comes up with a blue screen with white writing saying something about memory dump? (i think but cant quite remember)

Anyone else experiencing this issue or have any clue as to what may be the cause? :whatever:

I had similar problem with my ipod touch recently doing a software upgrade, it ended up wiping all my apps and music off. Luckily I opted for a backup before hand but even so some of my music/apps/photo's/video had to be installed manually. It took ages to do restore.

Itunes software is epic fail in my book, most unfriendly interface. :thumbsdown:
