I've been through the 'change'

I made the same change last week, also very happy so far.

Problem I have is deciding on which lenes to get, cannot decide....

Out of interest how long did you have the sony gear and how long did you have the nikon? (trying to figure out how long before the canon gear will be for sale in case I want to make the move over!!!)

Good choice of lenses. I have both these, the 70-200F4 being my first L I bought. The 24-105 is the lens that's always on my camera.

I lent it to someone on holiday for a few shots and he was amazed at the quality compared to his old film ef lens.

What was the full kit you had before, what is the full kit you have now, and what was the difference in outlay if any?

Any massive differences? I'm in the same boat...convince me!

I did exactly the same about a month ago - I got the 40d with a couple of smaller lenses, and the 24-105 mm and a 70-3200mm f2.8 ..... I juust love the L Lenses. Cant quite beleive the difference in quality when even just looking through the lens on the camera, lket alone the quality of the shots.

Best thing I did - dont regret it one bit :)

enjoy your canons i wish you well :)

i could never leave Nikon for any other manufacture.its not just the cameras and lens to me its the history and philosophy that stands behind Nikon.

they are real icons, Nikon f dangling from the neck of photojournalists in the Nam in black and white for a start

I shoot Nikon, but I really miss the 24-105 from when i shot Canon, it's such an amazing lens! Mr Nikon should really make me one :D

Resisting the fanboy urge... I'll wish you many happy days in your new home.

the focus system, although there's less points is nicer. Easy to change the points too.
The Nikon was too easy! The amount of shots I missed because my nose pressed the button was huge!!

But how the hell did you get that problem? I can only guess that you're a lefty?
And if you are and Canon cater better for that, then fair play :D

I am a lefty! (Left eye to look through the viewfinder!!)

:D

Huge difference in high ISO performance. There is noise on the 40D, but it's much, much more bearable than the D200.
At 800 and 1600 shots are perfectly usable. At 800 on the D200 they sure wasn't!

I had a D200
Sigma 10-20mm
Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro (MKI)
Sigma 30mm F1.4
Sigma 18-50mm F2.8
Nikon SB-600

Selling all that, and I think I added about £300 got me what I have now (see in my profile).

:agree:

Best move I've made too!

Worth it just for the 24-105 alone!
