Just pulled the trigger on a brand new Canon 1DMkIII, with full Canon UK warranty and VAT receipt, but they are not sure if the camera has had the sub-mirror fix done (which probably means it hasn't), although as I got it for £2105 (including Saturday delivery) which is £420 less than I could have got one from Kerso, £519 less than from WE and believe it or not £847 less than the cost from Mifsuds or £400 more than they wanted for an Exc+ S/H one with around 100,000 clicks, I will put up with the inconvenience of sending it in if required.

I have to confess, much as I liked the 1DMkII which is a great camera, I do like the layout more of the 1DMkIII as it is more akin to the 7D.

Blimey Ed, you're churning cameras at a hell of a rate!

Hopefully you'll find a set that suits you.

That's a great price. I have to say, I think I've decided my next serious camera will be a used 1DsIII once the 1DsIV is out and settled in a touch.

True, but I was surprised how much I liked the 1DMk2, it just feels right. I had a Nikon D3 and wasn't really enamoured with it, but I think the 1D series are nicer, and they are not the same as having a grip on one of the lesser bodies.

I suspect I shall keep the 1DMkIII for most of my general photography and use the 7D when I need that little bit more reach, although I may well find that the 1DMkIII does it all for me who can tell?

So, as soon as my other sales are completed I will put the 1DMkII up for sale, and I dd say at the time of buying I was only buying it to get a feel for the series and try it against my 7D, see here!

Jesus, how much gear have you went through in the past 12 months???

I remember you buying the 28-105 off me last summer !

Off my head, 5D2, 7D, 1DMKII, now 1DMKIII, anything else? lol

Yup, had a 5D, 30D, and EOS 3 too :p

Don't even get started on the lenses

You should just buy a 1DMKIV or a 1DsMKIII and get it over with lol I bet it'll be cheaper in the long run !

why did you dump the 5dMKII - thinking of swapping to a 1dMkIII myself - what are you gaining / losing that's important to you?

What most women say doesn't matter, length (and speed). Af quality, build quality. Only losing pixels and wide AOV.

It's often been said, try a 1D series body and never go back, worked for me!

I have made this change myself Eddie and I felt the same as you

If it is new it will not need a mirror fix unless it has been lying round the shop for the last 18 months.
