my uncle works as a post processor at hive of beauty LTD and he mentioned to me earlier today that they were looking for a photographer to do some product shots and my uncle was nice enough to recommend me so i had a little go today and found it quite interesting.
when my uncle said they were after pure white backgrounds my heart stopped, ive always found this sort of thing a PITA, i tried my hardest with the equipment they had which was a lastolite cube box but apparently only two of the light worked as the other two broke which as you know isnt a good thing when performing white backgrounds. i did what i could and afterwards they shown me the images on photoshop and they didnt look too bad (good enough for me) but obviously they were after white background stuff.
they complimented me saying that it is hard work doing white backgrounds and when they get the equipment fixed then they will ask me to do another trial run. they also said that the photographer they normally have will do the shots but he has all the equipment and experience and this is for an expensive contract which they cant screw up on which is why they only trial ran me for now. they were interested in seeing how the shots would come out from the pro with all the gear and my shots that were taken today and the ones that i'll take next time with the lights when there fixed.
alll in all im quite happy and if i do well next time i visit they said they will even hire me for smaller contracts which also means money money money to buy my new gear!!!
