Ive now got a 5d and a 60d but what lenses ?

Ive just bought a cheap 5D as i had a wedding to do and needed two cameras..I ive always been a massive fan of my 60d and have a 17-55 VR tamron which is an amazing copy and a OS sigma 70-200 so ive got all the ranges covered.

I now only have the 70-200 which works on the 5D (and gives amazing results ) but find the images that the 5d gives over the 60d is so nice im tempted to now grab this over the 60D (though am i just suffering from 'ive got a new toy' and convinsing myself that FF is better than a crop ? ) Question is what lens do i get ? do i 'blow' my money on a new tamron 24-70 2.8 and in effect 'replace' my 60d with the 5d... or buy something more usable perhaps and keep both cameras, say a 24-105 which would be a sensible choice as it would be a good travel lens on the 5D and quite usable on the 60d.. oh decisions!
 
I had the same choice and went with the 24-105, every now and again (usually just before going on holiday) I think about something wider.

Oh, in time look for the 135, a truly incredible lens

Might I throw a secondhand canon 28-70 f2.8L into the mix. They stopped making them around 1999, but if you can find them used, they are lovely lenses (I bought one recently for my first full frame camera).

In the used market they usually come in at about £450-500 and the f2.8 might be useful for you if you decide on more wedding photography
 
the thing is (and ive thought about the 28--70 ) that does about the same job as my current 17-55 on the crop.. which is a very good lens. I 'think' i can argue a 24-105 would be a really good walk about lens but not a great ' business ' lens, one thing ive def decided is to 'upgrade' my 30mm 1.4 on the crop and buy a 50m 1.4.. (30mm now for sale in classifieds )
 
Fair enough....hadn't really thought about that, probably because I traded from a 40D to the full frame and sold my Tamron 17-50 in the process:D
 
yup question is how much better was your images ? cos im not sure i would see much difference for the $$ spent :)
 
I haven't done a stringent comparison so far. The main difference I've seen going from the Tamron to the Canon is focus speed. Seems to lock on much more rapidly
 
yup can agree with focus speed - the version of 17-55 ive got is quite quick but does 'hunt' now and again in low light - which you can forgive it..
 
I use 24-105 most of the time but it's a slow lens (f4).
50mm f1.4 (or 1.2 if you can afford it) is used to test images from various cameras so that must be quite good too.
I use 70-200 to good effect and even the cheap 70-300 works well with a 5D if I need extra reach.
Shame the efs lenses can't be used but I understand the 60mm f2.8 efs can be used if you have an extension tube in the way. Must give that a try sometime.
