I've realised how interesting a herons face can be!

Also, first time I've been able to capture one:


my first wren.Not a good shot, very heavily cropped as it was the other side of a stream. It had just taken a dip and was drying itself out on this tree stump.
The light was glorious this afternoon, made the colours really vibrate!

It's taken me ages to fathom this out this evening, but I googled "wren" images and the white line above the eye convinced me. I can be easily "unconvinced" though

I hate Herons, they have killed numerous of my Koi. Buggers.

Must be very frustrating for you. Is there no way of protecting the fish or keeping the herons away?

You'd think so, lol.

I relocated my pergola to stop the things but it didn't, i even put a small fence over the top too, but that didn't work..

I didn't want to put a net over the pond as the missus doesn't like it, but there is a Heron Sanctuary near us, so they have easy pickings.

After another look I think you are right, it looks more like a wren than anything else.
