ps dont buy a cheep cpl they dont always work as i can vouch for

I think if I used a CPL then the reflections showing the curves would have ruined the photo.

It depends on how you look at it, on this shot the curves would be slightly lost due to losing a lot of reflections but on something that has angles like newer cars reflections ruin the shots so its more personal preference really
