Big problem with the processing on this one. Likely some problem with too vibrance/sharpening and then resizing. It's full of grey "dust" and jpeg criss-cross resizing artifact.
 
Thanks for the comment. Yes you are quite right. My capture settings were wrong to start with and I did try to use sharpening. I would love to know how to better post process.
 
here it is, with just the crop and the white balance remaining as edits
As you can see, the starting image is a bit rubbish - too noisy for a start and the settings were not what I thought I'd used.

1/1000th shutter (I thought it was 1/500th).

Other edits I had were contrast, brightness, shadows & highlights, sharpening, erm I think that's it.

I use Darktable for editing my raw files as I'm a linux user.

Considering the original, I don't think you've done a bad job with your edit. Don't know how much better you'd get it to be honest.
