Jessops 360AFD FLASH... Any LOVE out there???

Hi

I need a flash as doing a 52... will need to shoot indoor stuff... still life etc... never done any real flash work before and need a basic all round starter flash.. strapped for cash at the mo... is there any LOVE out there for this flash??? Will it do the job???

Any experiance you can share would be fab!

it's not too bad works ttl and it has decent power, build quality isn't the best, I work for these people and I've seen alot broken, tho saying that we do sell loads of them in our store.

I would personally look at nissin as well it's either the 622 or 662 (can't remember this sec) should be able to pick that up around £100.

When I do use flash its a Jessops 360AFD. It's good but I feel like I dont use it as much because it can be tricky to get the results from it. Looking now at SB-800s to use CLS for off camera flash. If you have a pocket wizzards or the like to use off camera flash then they would be good for that as quite cheap to pick up off ebay especially second hand when they are around.

i had one, i only used it for bounce flashes in abandoned spaces and it worked ok

However it damages quite easy, i dropped it taking it off my camera from about 30cms and it broke the horseshoe attachment

not bad for the price though, i paid 72£

I've got one works fine can't really compare as it's the only flashgun I've used but it's never let me down

I got one with my 550d kit and, although I am still getting to grips with it, I am quite happy so far. It does what it says on the tin TBH.

I bought 3 off e-bay for between 18-28 quid, somebody had a job lot ,returns, tested to flash-thats all.

one worked fine, one was fine except no TTL, the other most of the time the settings dont change even manually, but still fine for a slave with a bit off messing about.

All of them play up a bit sometimes the zoom cog slips off the bottom of rachet on all three and you have to give em a bit of a whack.

They do seem very cheaply made, but for the price i paid they do a job, not sure i'd pay much more for one though.

I purchased one about a year ago to replace a full manual Yongnuo one and it was great, but it broke and had to be replaced twice in 3 months (zoom function stopped working, and then the diffuser fell off). I got fed up and splashed out on a 580EX (which is awesome) but the Jessops is still used occasionally when doing off camera flash work with wireless triggers, or on my second body (20D) if necessary.

Personally, I'd save a bit more for a used 430EX, I've seen them as cheap as £120ish and they seem to be built quite decently.
