Hi...

I have just got a Jessops 300d flashgun for my 30D. However, I'm stuck. How do I get the flash into auto mode? I put it on the 30D but the images always come out over exposed, even in auto mode, the shutterspeed doesn't default to 1/60th. The exposures are always long, as if it hasn't recognised its on the hot shoe. I've gone thru the custom settings, but nothing seems to make it work. Basically, fo now I just want it in Auto and I want to experiment with bouncing etc.

thanks.

:)

I think its the universal one... says on the box it is, bought it off Gary Coyle, it was fine on his Nikon.

Just realised, I've posted in the wrong forum again! Mods, would oyu move to talk lighting? sorry! :)

All you get with a universal 300D is a flash that goes off at full power, it won't give you ttl, if that's what you're looking for

oh damn I never realised that! Yes, I want one that does TTL, thought this did:( Oh well, its for sale again then. Thanks :)

The 300AFDC is the canon specific version, but I don't think the 30D will automatically choose <60ms when using it though.

Edit: yes, the 30D will choose 60ms with the 300AFDC in full-auto mode (I normally use Av mode)
