Jessops HotShoe\PC Cord - not working??

Hi,
I have a 7D and a Jessops AFD flashgun. I brought a hotshoe to PC cord adaptor for 20p in the jessops sale :woot:

however it wont fire the flash off the camera??

Any ideas???

Here are the photos of the equipment, what am i missing??

Have you got all of the settings right on the camera ?

i think so. not sure if I have to set up the camera to fire via the pc port?? cant find that anywhere?
 
Are the batteries fully charged ? Does the flash fire from the camera hot shoe ok ?
Is the hot shoe on the lead compatable with the flash ?
If yes to all sounds like a faulty cable .
 
yes to all questions.

its a jessops lead working with a jessops flash so I presume its compatable.

only thing I can think of is the plug that fits the camera is small compared to the input port on the camera, however it fits snug, just some excess space around it. Is there different sizes in plugs???
 
Also just thought is the flash set to manual as it won't work through TTL .
 
Pc connection should be good I've not known of differant sizes .
