Joe and David on BBC

QUOTE: Joe Cornish and David Ward travel around the UK and capture some of the country's most stunning scenery with cameras that are hundreds of years old.

Except those 'hundreds of years old' cameras are only a few years old. Actually, there can't be any cameras hundreds of years old as photography is only about 150 years old itself!

Steve.

well thats a crock of poo for starts lol

yeah but realistically no one knows who they are.

No, being a landscape photographer is not quite "sexy", is it?

But Joe Cornish has done so much excellent stuff for the National Trust, he must have indirectly sold Britain to many people.

As for the rest of it, its just TV. That girlie who did ther voice over, she wouldn't know the first thing about photography, maybe the researcher knew a little bit more, or they'd read Light and Land's press releases....;)

I think in the clip it said technology that is hundreds of years old. Although the woman doing the voiceover said cameras I think.

Have you not seen Joe Cornish's work for the National Trust? Or his work full stop? It is inspirational for lots of us. My Mother in Law is not into photography at all but has visited places because she has seen them in pics taken by JC (and others). I once got talking to some people from the States who were visiting the UK. Although I met them at Crosby Beach looking at Gormley's work, they were touring parts of Scotland because of the landscapes that they had seen in photographs. Amongs others they spoke about Joe Cornish.

Really  Ask around. I was recently at a talk by Joe Cornish (organised by DiddyDave & Other Barnsley Folk) where I met people that had travelled from London, Lincoln, Liverpool (me), etc. As I said, many people that are not into photography know who he is because of the beautiful work that he produces.

To be honest there appears to be a level of cynicism about almost everything and anyone around at the minute. It was only a short clip but if it stirs some interest in photography or Whitby (or whatever), it will do me. Take it for what it was. Anything about any great photograher or photography in general surely has to be a good thing.

Chris :)

only heard of them because of seeing their names online, not because of their pictures. I'd not be able to think of any that are iconic. If you are into landscape I can understand why but not everyone shoots boring landscapes lol

lol :|

So because you've never heard of them that alone is enough to make the statement 'well thats a crock of poo for starts lol'

I expected David Noton to do something like this, and if those photographers were so interested in light why were they taking pictures when it looked to be midday??

I thought it was supposed to be a documentary, does anyone know when its on? I've just watched the news vid at work but don't have sound!
