A problem for me has been using a Metz cl4 with a sca 386 adapter for my bronica ETRSi. When using the auto selection on the metz, the flash works quite well, however, if I try using the adapter, it only seems to take into account the foreground, so every thing outside of the immediate subject (usually a person) the back ground is completely lost, has any one come up-against this problem before? .

Sounds like your getting to much output from the flash, John.
If you want to keep the background in the shot, you need to use fill flash.
Try backing off the flash output to give just enough light for the subject.
Or add some more lighting to illuminate the background.

Thanks for the info you have posted, I think I shall have to experiment a little, I dont really know what level of fill I would need to use, apart from my usual method which is to open up the f number by 2 stops to obtain a slightly over the top fill, this will work using auto on the Metz, however using the 386 adapter the background is lost, thanks for your help.
