Jose Villa's colors

Okay, I know he shoots film, but for the rest of us digital shooters, how do we get that pastel effect in our images?? I find it doable under the right lighting conditions (i.e. on a non-cloudy evening about 1 hour before sunset), but is there a way to get those soft colors even at noon or when it's cloudy?

I think you have answered your own question there, 99% of photography is waiting for the right subject in the right light.

well - 2 things you could do to help...

1) find a "Portra 160NC Preset" for lightroom, that'll take care of most of the look & feel

2) move to Southern California for the light
