Hi,

I shoot raw and convert my final images to jpg files what I want to know is, if I copy the file many times does it lose quality?

I don't use the save as option but merly just copy the file to a new folder also if I resize those copied jpegs is that regarded as editing and lose in quality

You will certainly lose quality if you resize, but not if you crop.

You will still lose quality by just the process of saving in jpg as it isn't a lossless format, each time you open in an editor and save you lose quality, even if nothing is done to the photo.

I guess my next question is,

I shoot raw and edit and save as tiff would I be better off staying with tiff and if I needed an image for print just convert to jpeg

Is it possible to save multiple images at once as tiffs with lightroom or photoshop

What's your normal workflow
Thanks

Import the RAW file into Lightroom, keep it there

Export, what you what, when you want in whatever format you want from Lightroom

Lightroom is "non-destructive", the original RAW file never gets changed, it just remembers your choices of settings applied to it

If your saving different edited versions? then use the tiff format.

why would you 'save' if no editing had taken place..?

I was just making the point that opening and saving will lose quality, not suggesting you should do so and lots of programs won't allow a save if nothing changed so it would be a save as. Wanted to help the OP understand that it wasn't editing that was the problem but saving from within an editor.
