Found this little jumping spider (Salticadae) - latin name Salticus scenicus, bounding across the lid of the wheelie bin this morning - and that meant no nice surface to photograph it on, so I transferred it via a strawberry plant leaf onto my trusty old bird table.

Needless to say, once there, she buggered off and stayed out of sight for ten minutes, but eventually found courage to explore the new surroundings and popped her head over an edge for long enough for me to fire off 5 shots. This was the best of those.

I just love the eyes.

No crop on this except for a slight rotation. Editing involved cloning a white patch of something or other out and a gaussian blur layer to soften the cloning back a little.

Used 3 extension tubes on the Sigma 105, natural light. Taken at ISO 400 to keep the shutter speed up. No noise reduction required.

C&C as always encouraged.
