I bought a Duracell camera battery for a D7000 about this time last year and it has since died, it fails to charge. I sent an email to them via their website asking for them to replace it under their three year guarantee and got a reply back saying...

"I am sorry to advise that we do not handle contacts regarding Duracell camera batteries and therefore I am unable to help with your query.


I can understand the disappointment this may cause, however I have provided below the contact details for PSA Parts who would be happy to help."

The details they gave me was a postal address in London. I'm sorry but is this not the 21st century? I can't remember the last time I had a conversation by letter.

It's probably the case that it's going to be difficult to get a replacement. I originally thought that the battery being a known brand would be reliable compared to those cheap knock-offs from China but obviously not.

I've never had any issues with Nikon batteries.
 
Was it Amazon direct?
 
I thought the initial 12 month warranty was dealt with by the supplier, anything after was direct with the manufacturer / Importer
 
Most of these warranty's rely on the fact people dont keep receipts,if you contact the specified center the chances are if you have the receipt they will sort it
 
ExPro batteries have been excellent across a number of systems for me, I wouldn't even consider spending the money charged for OEM batteries.

No, you have no contract with the manufacturer or importer. Any and all guarantees should be dealt with by the retailer.

Anyway I have a business relationship with PSA Parts and I'm sure if you contacted them with proof of purchase, they would be able to help you out.

If you but via Amazon Ebay et al, you have proof of purchase via the trail in your purchase history and CCard statement.

With a manufacturer warranty claim your contract is with whoever is providing the warranty, which in this case is the manufacturer or their representative.

Amazon are right, for a warranty claim you do need to deal with Duracell (or whoever they direct you to).
