Just deleted 2 Conficker virus, now PC is slooow

and keeps crashing.
MS malware removal tool found 2 conficker files.
Deleted them both, but now my PC keeps crashing. Mainly when using Firefox.

Can anyone advise on what to do next, or shall I just re-format and get on with it!
 
re-install FF?
 
Done a quick MRT scan, and here's the results:

So it's there, but not infected :thinking:

that's a list of what it's looking for - and in your case - didn't find! :rules:
 
Also run a system file check
type sfc /scannow

note space between c and /
you may need an original os disk

Just tried it.
PC stopped responding AGAIN half way through :bang:

I think I might just do a re-format......

Anyone recommend anything to stop this virus coming back?

Just make sure that you download the real version - not one of the various ahem, hacked, versions. It was originally written by a Dutch bloke I think, merijn?, but is now owned by one of the av companies.

There was for a while a hijackthis domain punting malware laden versions, not sure if thats still the case, but just be careful out there.
