Just had a fright

Swapped the 50 for my 17-55 and it started to rattle every time I moved the plane of the camera :eek: fired a few random test shots and all seemed ok. Shook the camera, and it rattled like made. Started to panic a bit by now, as it sounded like there was a bunch of ball bearings floating about inside the lens. Then all of a bloody sudden a little bag of silica gell fell out of the lens hood :lol: Damn I felt silly, relieved, but silly.

So the moral of this is check for extraneous items before panicing :D

lol, funny. I would take the utter mick but you've posted here and that would be spiteful :)...so very glad for you that it turned out to be nothing.
I hate that stomach dropping feeling you get when you click somethings not right...even if it turns out to be fine

Hey I deserve it (probably), but thanks :thumbs:

:lol::lol::lol:

It's easy to laugh at you but we all know the feeling of sheer terror when we think one of our beloved toys is failing. At least I do, it's expensive stuff and I've had to work hard to pay for it!

Hee hee. Nice one PW. Did you get a decent picture of it while you were at it??

Thanks guys :D No Ryan it got binned with venom and much force :lol:

And the shots were OK with the bag in the hood?

Yep, that's what threw me totally. The hood on a 17-55 is pretty big, and it must have just got lodged inbetween the hood and lens :lol: It was reverse mounted at the time.
