just had to use a windows

Vista is ok on the right system.

It just needs a pc with enough processing power and ram to handle it right!

I've used vista for well over a year now, not had one crash or an app crash.
 
Do not start a comparison between Macs and Vista! I being a windows person actually hate Vista, sticking with XP and 2000 until we see what Windows 7 offers.
 
FFS, there is nothing wrong with vista, it is better than XP in every single way providing you have dual core cpu and 2gb or higher.

I've always been a windows user, and I suspect I always will be, So far I am very happy with vista, three of our five pcs run it, I work and game with it and have encountered no more problems it than with XP.
As one of my jobs is a computer fixer and I do have a few clients who have macs, and I have to say from the "sorting out problems" point of view I'd rather try to troubleshoot a pc than a mac.

There seems to be an urban myth situation that Vista is "rubbish and unstable and unfriendly" but the only problems I've encountered tend to come from people who have "half an idea" trying to stuff Vista on to pc's that just aren't capable of running it. Or those people who have bought off the shelf from pc world etc and the computers are prestuffed with rubbish they will never use and that brings the os to it's knees.

My heart sinks everytime I go out to a new client and the right hand side of the taskbar is cluttered with dozens of little icons they know nothing, about all hogging reasources for no reason. :shake:

And don't get me started on every download (adobe, google :razz:) having somebody elses flipping toolbar attached to it, begone, foul spawn of the devil, begone :thumbsdown:

completely agree, i've ran vista now for 8/9 months with no issues at all. i am the only person to run vista here at work in the office and i seem to suffer less problems than XP machines if anything

unless people have decent spec machines there always going to moan about it
 
:thinking: isnt it partly about what you are comfortable with and used to? I have always been a windows user and dont have any major problems [running an XP64bit machine, XP pro machines and Vista machines], right click is a wonderful tool etc. I go over to my neighbours and her mac just seems cumbersome, hard to navigate and not intuitive in the slightest, but I am NOT used to it, thats the problem. What does it matter, horses for courses. :shrug:

Exactly! I've had Vista for a year and a half now and have never had a problem. People will say the same of XP, Macs etc. If it works for you, it's all good! :thumbs:

Have to agree, been running Vista since early 2007 with no problems, much more stable than XP was.
 
Must join in on this one.... I bought a new Windows laptop back in January with Vista, I've loaded it with Office, CS3 & LR (ver 1) and it's been fine. I hate IE with a passion so use Firefox for web browsing.

It's great little machine, dual core with 2Gb RAM & 160Gb HDD. I keep thinking about replacing it with a Mac but as it does the job I can't see the point.

My desktop machine is Windows XP and it takes ages to boot, even longer to close down sometimes and has twice the RAM of the laptop. If anything, that will get replaced (or shifted sideways) before the laptop.

I have never understood why everybody slags off Vista, just make sure your machine is up to it and it'll be fine. Just don't go loading it with loads of crap software which runs in the background, that'll pull any machine to its knees eventually.

Vista is excellent. Windows Server 2008 is even better. And now, we Windows users, get the *proper version* of Photoshop CS4 - the 64 bit edition :)

The trouble with the new version of Windows, it requires a much more powerful PC due to its advanced nature compared to that of a mac.

Had a few problems with vista after one of the automatic updates. Corrupted one of the drivers and kept on blue screening. Patience isn't one of my biggest virtues so after uninstalling and reinstalling them a few times I eventually formatted and it's all good again. Quite like the "feel" of vista to be honest.
