If it was your £1k I would recommend an EP3 + kit lens and the 45mm 1.8.
If it was my £1k, I would buy a Nex-5n + kit lens and a Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 which is what I did. ;)

I suppose you'll need a body to record its images :D so get a G3 to go with it.
 
Do you mean an EVIL camera or specifically m4/3?

I'd go with the NEX option as I'd prefer the bigger sensor.
 
But with that (uless you go for a non Sony lens) you also get bigger lenses, which is not a plus IMVHO.
 
G3 and Pan/Leica 25mm f1.4. or if you want a zoom lens then go for the older 14-45mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens as it's sharper than the current 14-42mm kit lens.
 
Just acquired a Pen PL2 with the 14 42 kit lens and 40 150 and finding the quality of images produced incredible. Two downsides to watch for sample variations in these lenses seem more extreme than usual. The original 14 42 was swapped out by the retailer after four days, soft oh so soft. I tried a few 40 150's and the same issues two of them soft to the point of being a joke. The third one is outstanding even a match for my Sigma 100 300EX. If anyone is thinking of getting a Pen budget for the accessory electronic finder it turns the camera into a real tool.
