Just ordered a Canon 7D 18-135 Kit what next?

Not really, as if you bought it outright there and then, you'd still be paying for finance you havnt used by that rationale!
 
Not sure I understand? if you had bought there and then, you'd have paid more than you could have bougtht elswewhere. You also have the option to buy cheaper and take a 12 month loan for probably around the same price is what I meant.
 
Oh I thought we were referring to the off the shelf Jessops price and the finance (as it sounds the price is still the same as the off the shelf price even with finance).

But I agree, unless you need the 0% finance you're always better off going somewhere else, especially on line.

Back on topic; for my 2 pence worth...take a look at the Sigma 120~300mm 2.8 OS. If you search around you could pick one up for around your budget(digital rev). aparently its a cracking lens for the money and goes fairly well well tele's. However I can't speak form experience as I borrowed a ridiculous amount of money and purchased the 300mm 2.8 canon. (still yet to get out, waiting for a tripod collar:thumbsdown:) I do have the 100~400mm and its a great lens but don't expect amazing results at the 400 end wide open; it's fairly soft. :)

I think I'm decided on the 70-200 f2.8 mk II lens though. I know it might be a little short at most tracks but seems on balance it seems to be a good all rounder & I can get an extender later if needed.

IMO don't use the UV just use the 18-135mm hood the 18-135mm is a nice walkabout lens, the problem with other people telling you to sell it is that they never used the this lens, i use this lens 90% of the time on my camera.

Thanks, I'm happy with the lens so far. The only alternative for me would have been the 15-85 kit lens which is supposed to be much better but most of the pictures I have take so far have been further than 85mm so I think I made the right choice so far.

Junk the 18-135 and buy a decent lens lol

Now that IS a lens :) I actually find it too heavy BUT the results are fantastic so will be keeping mine

have you ever used one?

I think with all gear you can always argue 'this' is better than 'that' if you compare apples and oranges, however cost vs performance vs flexibility its a good lens. unless you want to buy a range of very expensive lenses then swap from one to the other all the time, in one reasonable package you can take the 18-135 with you cover a wide range of uses and get good results. for someone starting out or looking for lightweight convenience and flexibility its worthwhile. it all depends on what you want from the lens....

e.g. here a pic I took with that lens on the same camera... zero editing, as off the camera.. is there anything substandard about the image quality?

Ive used it, it's a superb lens, and I've used a lot (hell of a lot!) of lenses. The one I tested I found was so good I bought that very lens.

From what you've posted it's clear you've never used one?

If you don't believe me, I too can post up some images?
