Just ordered a Sigma 50mm F1.4 for my 60D

Just a quick post. Ordered a sigma 50mm F1.4 for my 60d. I currently use the kit lens 17-85mm f4-5.6 its a nice lens with usm and image stablization. But i really fancied a prime to get a nice shallow depth of field. I have ordered through one stop digital as i have used them before and they were great, so i will let you know my findings in a few days time.

It's a good lens and I hope that you'll be happy with it. Mine has been my first choice general purpose lens on my 20D for months now and whenever I swap to another lens the 50mm goes back on before I put the camera away.

Use it at f1.4 and hit the max shutter speed of your camera :)

I've been thinking about replacing my 50mm f/1.8 with one of these...

Must.. Put.. Wallet.. Away.......
 
Its on my list too, having the 50 1.8 :lol:....but I don't know if a 85 1.8 would be better, then again I have the 100mm f2.8:help:

I think that with lots of lens v lens choices neither can be said to be "better," as such, it's just that the designers have made different decisions and produced different lenses and I'm pretty sure that a valid argument could be made for buying either the Sigma or the Canon...
 
I have read that a few of these lens have had focusing troubles lets hope mine will be ok. Its coming by dhl and is currently in germany. Should be with me by monday all been well. Just hoping it will notice the difference from my kit lens in the way of sharpness. although i am not disappointed with the kit lens as i have taken some nice shots.
 
Hi all My new lens was delivered today by dhl it took just 4 days to come from honk kong and that was over the weekend . I have had fantastic service from one stop digital with a great price and customer service. So as promised here are few quick pics i took this afternoon.

I have found the sigma to focuses very fast and quiet. Can be a bit soft wide open but that depends on your distance from the subject if you are further from the subject wide open is pin sharp. get a bit closer and the image goes a little soft. Step down to F2 onwards and the image becomes tack sharp. Well Happy.
