Just ordered the new Sigma 1.4 DG (Canon)

As per the title, I have just placed a pre order with WEX and was wondering if anyone else has done the same.

This is a lens that I have been looking forward to getting for months and judging by the numerous reviews already submitted, it is going to be a cracker!

There is one big downer though. It looks like the Canon 7D mk2 has been delayed (yet again) and is unlikely to be available until the end of this summer, or even later depending on which news you read.

Your thoughts and comments on both subjects are more than welcome .

the title tells us its sigma and 1.4 .... sounds like a converter to me... but then you say this lens? am thinking you missed a vital bit of info out ?

Going to wait for the launch price to come down. Only downside seems the weight and length so I may hang onto my 'small' Sigma 50. 505g vs 815g. 68mm vs 100mm.

I was looking at the Sigma, although I'll wait until it has been tested on the early adopters and the launch price has come down. I don't really need it as I have the Zeiss Otus, but it might be a good addition to the bag if I want to travel a bit lighter and with autofocus.

cheers.. all my boxing is done with a 35mm prime for a few reasons... first..I ahve enought o do.. I set 9 focus points so i can easily flip left and right to whichever boxer is attacking as using center point is useless if you think about it... usualy one boxer on left one on right...thus aim, focus and flipping points is enough without zooming as welll.. boxers use the whole ring.. so its wide enough for full length shots at one side and perfect for close up at this side...the full frame 1dx offers such good quality i can crop in if need be for anyhting thats required from other side.. the quality from the prime beats the quality other people are getting on zooms.. i get a lot more pics in focus as well .....
