Just picked up a lens

Just got myself ( ebay ) a canon 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 USM lens

immaculate condition no fungus or dust spots. came with filter on it too.

some may wonder why i got this lens.. two reasons... it fits the gap of the range im missing ( i have 10-18 and 70-300 lenses ) , budget.. i got it for bargain price of £60, optics.. for an old lens the reviews rate it as one of the best old lenses out there and quite a step up from kit lens with tests putting it almost on a par with L series lenses.. but the main reason was that it has distance window ( something sadly lacking it pretty much all of todays budget priced lenses ) .
Metal mount too and its a hefty weight and very solidly built.
might seem a bit of an odd focal length especially on a crop sensor ( 44.8- 168 ) but think this will do just fine for shooting portraits and also with the distance window may give its a try for some long exposure night shots in manual mode where the infinity marker will come in handy ( something which is lacking on my 10-18 IS STM lens ) .
handy size walkabout lens too for street photography . stepped down 2 stops its supposed to be tack sharp ( we shall see ) but for the money think i got a bargain as normally they go for around £120-130

Your'e not alone Dean at that focal length. I have a Vivitar 28-105mm f2.8 which I use with my Fuji XT1. Another excellent lens and great for portraits and some close up's with the macro function.

I went for this, as when I had a DSLR I had a Tamron 28-85mm f2.8 and I found this focal length worked for me compared to the 17-50 lenses, I rarely shot wide. As for price, I paid £14.00 and the optics are mint, it also came with a leather type case. I'm using an adapter for the Fuji, but I must say some of these older lenses are fantastic and sharp when used on modern cameras. In the past I have had some Nikons, 24-50, 28-85, 75-300mm and all have been sharp lenses.

My latest bargain is a Tokina ATX 100-300mm f4 lens I bought a couple of weeks ago, It's a little heavy for me but some of the pics I have taken have been very pleasing, just need to buy a Tripod or Monopod to use it better.
