Yes
Just upgraded from my 1100D to a 7D :-) Gets delivered tomorrow morning from MPB Photographic, can't wait! teamed with the 17-55 f/2.8 I got earlier in the month should be a good setup :)

Any 7D owners out there?

Plenty of 7D owners, it does go quite well with the 17-55mm.

It is.

PS Although I have gone FF (6D) my 7D still gets more use.

That's good to hear Neil! After reading great reviews I thought I would take the plunge! big upgrade from an 1100D so hoping I can instantly see the difference in my image quality etc :)

Read the manual twice, and just because you can change every conceivable setting, don't be tempted to do so. Start simple and experiment in stages. Yes it takes good shots, but will punish sloppy shooting.

Thanks Ken, all taken on board! Won't go changing everything like mad, I'll get lost and forget what I have and what I haven't knowing me.

Is it a total night and day difference with image quality?

No, it won't be. I've never had an 1100D but whatever body you're upgrading from the difference will never be "night and day". Also you're not upgrading from an 1100D plus kit lens as you already have high quality glass in the 17-55 f2.8. I would say the improvements will be more subtle but also the experience of using a 7D compared to an 1100D will be vastly improved. The 7D should feel much much better to handle and that together with the build quality should impart a feeling of more confidence. Also the improved autofocus system and the burst rate (if you need it) will be big improvements. This is all of course IMHO and others I've no doubt could explain it better, but bottom line is it's a fantastic camera and a pleasure to use. :D

PS You should have yours by now.

I do! Just took a few shots (not of any great standard if I'm honest) and can definitely tell the difference! Image quality is better and you were 100% correct when you said it feels better. The build quality compared to the 1100D is superb! Made the right choice :-)

Next up tomorrow I think I'm buying a 70-200 L f/4 :-)
