Ok, so today I got to thinking, what are good props to you use when doing model shoots? To be honest, I searched and did a really bad job of getting ideas! So, I thought about a genius lazy way to fix my problem... how about a prop thread!

I want you all to tell me what props you use/would like to use/etc. I'll start by listing what I can think of. I won't list different types of each objects. For example, rather than Armchair, Office chair, etc I'm just going to say "Chair". But, something kinda specialized like "Rocking chair" would be useful to be listed individually.

Ok, here goes:

Old/New cameras (had to be first!)
Desk
Table
Sofa
Chair
Rocking chair
Stool
Glasses/Cups/Mugs
Knives and Cutlery in general
Spectacles/Sunglasses
Hats/Caps
Pen/Pencil
PC/Laptop
Games console/joypad/joystick
Guitar
Hammock
Pillow/Cusion
Scarves
Brush/Comb
Guns and rocket launchers!
Umbrella / parasol
Fan
Masks
(pure) White bed sheet (or bed sheets in general?)
Flowers (real/fake)
Fabrics (designs/metallic look/etc)
Different types of Rugs (e.g. sheepskin ;))

(...and adding...)

I can probably list the whole house, but that begs another question... what exactly do you consider a prop I suppose... let the debate ensue!

K Go!

P.S. didn't know where to put this.... inspiration/equipment/talk photography???

Ah jez, come on lads! Ye're useless! Don't make me find out addresses and send KayJay a huntin! He's got a freakin rocket launcher ya know!

Lads? :bat:
Can ladies play too?

How about . . .

umbrella / parasol
fan
masks . . .

 sorry sarah! Back home lads refers to both lads and ladies! Us Irish are a bit :cuckoo:

Can't believe I never thought of umbrella! and nice one on the fan/mask too.. Ta!

a pure white bed sheet...

sounds seedy but can give some good results on a darker BG

Interesting. I need to nail darker backgrounds so this will be interesting. Never thought of it as a prop I suppose!

I've used masks and artificial flowers before. Bridal ones benefit from the artificial flowers because it gives the model something to do with their hands.

Cushions (fancy ones) and call into fabric shops and get pieces of interesting fabrics. I have really bright red, gold and bronze metallic fabrics that come in really handy for boudoir/nude shoots when you want to cover up a little.

Sheepskin rug.
