Yes
As the title, which one would be better to hold the following equipment adequately...

Reason being is that I sold my Lowepro mini trekker AW (to big) to get a Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW (to small) as thought that a slingshot would do the trick...

Mmmmm not so... Dont like the SS 200 AW as it seemed too small for me (that was with just wearing a T-shirt, let alone a fleece or a jacket..

So, I have looked at both the Kata's as I like the idea of what they do i.e back-pack/sling-shot..

I have the following gear to fit into the Kata but like my above attempt at the Lowepro slingshot 200 AW it dont go..

Nikon D300s + MB-D10 (fitted), Nikon 28-70mm f2.8, Sigma 100-300mm f4, SB-600, Sigma 1.4x TC, and various accessories (inc a Nikon GP-1 in a small camera case) remotes, filters, flash diffusers, leads, card readers etc etc..

So will the main equipment that you would know of fit into either the Kata 3N1-20 or 3N1-30... I have checked the size's of both bags & did so with a tape measure with the Lowepro 200 AW but it didn't fit..

So can anyone help out please.... as I would like to stop buying bags & then sell them as thy do fit my needs..

i have one of these i can fit in gripped d300 nikon 300f4
sigma 50-150 2.8 nikon 18-200 vr 2 nikon 50 1.8 and and a nikon 18-55 vr
also have the sb900 in the top part along with various filters etc.
hope this helps.

Yes it does

My main concern was the Sigma 100-300mm EX f4 really, trying to get that into a bag next to the Nikon D300s+Grip & the 28-70 f2,8 ....

Out of curiousity, do you have the Sig 50-150 standing or flat as you look into the kata from the front...

Cheers G.... now I can get the Kata 3N1-30 that I found for £50

That's a good price!

I paid nearly twice that for mine a year ago and have used it ... once :(! I found that it was too heavy, as I couldn't resist the temptation to put more kit than I needed in it to fill all the space :D. Had I been more sensible and packed less in, it would have been a joy to use.

The fact that it can be slung over either shoulder is a really good feature, as on the one long trek that I took mine on, I got a really sore shoulder and had to switch it over towards the end of the day. I think I'm right in saying that the Slingshot bags can't do that !?

My only major criticism of this bag is that it is a little too soft and doesn't hold it's from very well. When I try to stand mine upright, it falls over because the bottom pockets aren't packed tight with gear - most of it is either in the middle of the bag, or in the flip-top pocket on the top.

Still, I'm glad that I have it, as if I was traveling by car (instead of on foot all the time), I'd really appreciate having that much storage capacity :).

Only thing was that it didn't come with the rain cover - but then again its not really a problem as can source a similar cover elsewhere...

I only got the "30" was for the Siggie 100-300 mainly as the "20" would fit it in (4cm is all that I needed on the 20).. It fits all my clobber (why I haven't a clue as I wouldn't really take everything out) but it does me for the price & mainly got it as it does the backpack & slingshot combi... Also that its a compat carry on as well...

It does'nt seem all that bigger in comparison to the Mini trekker AW thou size wise... I shall see how long I keep this one before wanting to get shot of it for something else (smaller or larger) but hopefully not for a wee while yet - as it drives the OH mad at times with all this photography malarky - but she is good as gold thou... aren't you darling ....

Well, if you can afford it, it's probably best to hang onto it and just add other bags to suit your needs as and when. I'm up to about 6 camera bags now, as I try and do lots of different styles of photography, each requiring different bits of kit and it's really nice to have a bit of flexibility when it comes to carrying what you need.

It's probably a bit like women and handbags, although I wouldn't really know :D.

 like it..

I have had the following:

tamrac exp 5, tamrac pro - 6,8,12,13, lowepro Mini trekker AW, slingshot 200AW & now the Kata 3N1-30.... All in that order...

By god that tamrac 13 is massive (then again I had the equipment to fill it till I sold off what I wasn't using)

I do know how women feel regarding their handbags... espically after that lot, but then again I sell mine (camera bags that is & not handbags) to fund the next bag & not just have a collection in the bottom of the wardrobe :naughty:

Where?! Where?!

It popped up on ebay... So just asked if there was a buy it now price & went from there - they only used it for 1 holiday - bargain really...

There was the 3N1-20 being sold by SRS for £59 but that went hence I got the 3N1-30....

Best way I find now is to ask them if they are interested in BIN prices (saves on listing/paypal fee's)
