Hi, does anyone know if you can fix the shutter speed in AV mode, i tried some early morning shots with my canon 350d and using a tripod at first i managed to keep the shutter speed from between from 5" to 30" as it appear's on my camera.
I turned it off and back on again, as i was waiting for sunrise and now i cannot get the speed as i had my settings before it's taking pictures like from 1/25 second and the picture comes out all dark.

I would like to point out, my desired shutter speed stays stable in doors, and as soon as i get to my front door it changes back to something like 1/20 second.

Av will only fix the aperture, TV will control the shutter speed, or of course manual

Alex. Using AV means the camera will decide the shutter speed based on it's meter reading combined with whatever ISO you've set.
To get good sunrise shots just continue to use your tripod.

Your shots may be coming out dark because the meter is exposing for the overall scene leaving the sky correctly exposed and foreground a bit under exposed.
I frequently shoot bracketed shots for sunrise/sunset.
Give it a go. Look up bracketing in your manual for details of how to set it up. Set the bracketing 1 stop apart.
When tripod mounted and bracketing set, I'm pretty sure that if you use the self timer the camera will take all three exposures in one go.

Yeah, you can do that. It's the mode called manual. :-)
